Counselling with Jenny
I primarily work with EMDR, person-centred therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy ( CBT), drawing on each approach to meet the individual needs of my clients.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing)
EMDR is a therapy that can help you process difficult or traumatic experiences that may still be affecting you in the present. It can help reduce the emotional distress associated with painful memories, so they feel less overwhelming and intrusive.
EMDR isn't about forgetting what happened. Instead, it aims to help you process experiences in a way that allows you to fell more settled and less affected by them.
Person-Centred Therapy
Person-Centred Therapy is based on the belief that you are the expert on you own life. Rather than telling you what to do or giving advice, I provide a safe, accepting and non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings. By feeling truly heard and understood, many people gain greater clarity, confidence and the ability to make choices that feel right for them.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT is a practical , evidence-based approach that explores the connection between your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Sometimes we can become stuck in unhelpful patterns of thinking that affect how we feel and respond to situations. CBT helps you identify these patterns, challenge those that are unhelpful, and develop healthier ways of thinking and coping. The aim is to help you make positive changes that improve your emotional wellbeing and day to day life.
